RES-MOVE

Spain

Fundación MUSOL is specialized in capacity building for local and regional public administrations and currently operates in Europe, Latin America, and Africa, with a staff of 25. Established in 1998 by a group of chief executives (town clerks, comptrollers, and treasurers) from Spanish and European local authorities, MUSOL has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Spanish professional association of local government chief executives (COSITAL) and the European federation of national associations of local government chief executives (UDITE).

With over 350 collaborators who work as chief executives in numerous local and regional authorities, MUSOL has the capability to reach and involve public authorities in pilot projects or case studies. This extensive network allows MUSOL to mobilize experts, trainers, and advisors with expertise in various sectors of public management, policies, and services.

In the context of the RES-MOVE project, MUSOL has several years of experience in developing projects aimed at raising awareness about migration and counteracting hate speech. This includes activities in local libraries, such as training on cyber-activism with the elderly and promoting community mobilization actions co-organized by local and migrant-origin youth. MUSOL has also addressed social inclusion of migrants by developing joint actions with Bolivian migrants in Valencia and their families in Bolivia, fostering their integration into the Spanish social fabric. This support includes helping them find new sources and job opportunities, and negotiating with the Government Delegation of Valencia to facilitate and expedite the legal procedures for workers. Additionally, MUSOL fosters the commitment of migrants residing in Spain to their places of origin, whether by sending remittances or by returning to their home countries where they can apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their stay in Spain.

MUSOL’s tasks in the project will include the implementation of Work Packages (WPs) 2, 3, and 4 in Valencia. It will be responsible for local dissemination in Spain, act as the data collector for WP 6, and make a special contribution to the Guidelines on the topic of “migrant enterprise & development cooperation.”ional valorisation.
